Finn Valley Riding Club 

The Area SJ was the last of the summer qualifiers again held at Geldeston Hall. It was great again to see so many new members out representing the club. We had an array of teams from Novice to Open as well as several riding in the Style SJ this year.

 

First up was the Junior Novice team, of Daisy Kiddy, Tabby Wade, Charlotte Wood and Lauren Hassan. All performed well with Tabby and Charlotte jumping a double clear and Lauren just having 4f in each round. Sadly Velvet was having an off day and poor Daisy didn’t complete. The team finished 4th with Tabby 2nd and Charlotte 4th. A great team effort and hopefully it has been an opportunity to gain some experience for the future.

 

Next was the turn of the Senior Novice team of Jackie Street, Joe Mace, Jess Mace and Julia Hicks. Jess and Joe both having just 4f and a clear round, Jackie picking up some time penalties but jumping clear and Julia sadly having a ‘senior moment’ in the first round to pick 4f. Overall the team finished 6th in a very competitive class. Well done all.

 

The style SJ was running simultaneously in the other ring (albeit exceptionally slowly) and we had a junior and senior team in this as well as some individuals. The Junior team of Daisy Kiddy (11th), Charlotte Johnson (8th), Megan Hammond (7th) and Tabby Wade (6th) with the team coming 3rd. The senior team of Julia Sheppard (13th), Joe Mace (8th), Jess Mace (20th) and Rosie Stevens (1st) won the team event and have qualified for the Nationals. The non-qualifier team of Danielle Noble, Natalie Flewitt and Julia Hicks finished 5th and the Individuals Jackie Street and Kirsty Dawes didn’t get into the placings this time.

 

After what seemed like eternity the Intermediate SJ teams started, with the juniors first up. With only two teams entered we had a good chance!  So no pressure………..First up was Charna who just rolled a pole, Charlotte picked up 4f and Megan and Dulcie jumped clear. By the start of the second round the rain was pouring but this did not dampen the spirits of the girls who all rode exceptionally well under pressure to finish the second round with 8f. This was good enough to secure the win without the need to jump off. A great result and we wish them the best of luck at the Championships!

 

The Intermediate and Open teams were sadly down to just two riders. Julia picked up just 4f in the second round and April and her young horse just knocking a pole in each round. Fortunately the weather have brighten up for the open jumping with Rosie and April jumping great rounds but sadly picking up 4f and 8f respectively. We will have to wait and see if they enter an Area 14 team at the Championships allowing Rosie and April to go.

 

Again it was another great day for Finn Valley with everyone coming home with handfuls of rosettes! Good luck to all those going to Lincoln. Hopefully we will have learnt lots this year ready to be even better next year!
