Area ODE 2017

On Sunday 25th June we organised the Area qualifier One Day Event at Poplar Park. Area 8 also joined us. We knew it was going to be a long day as we were running over 200 horses. It was a lovely morning with the dressage starting at 8.30, followed by show jumping at 9am and cross country at 10am.

The 80cm riders were first to go we had two teams all doing good tests a few poles down in the show jumping and a few mishaps for some on the cross country course, all had a good time and for Molly it was a first one day event so well done. There were some riders picking up time penalties and XC faults which meant the teams did not get placed.

We had two 80cm junior individuals Jasmine Hawkins and Shannon Curtis who came 5th and has qualified for the championships. Jasmine jumped a lovely clear in the XC but finished out of the placings. Next were the 90cm riders we had one team Joe Mace, Pip Davies, Charlotte Long and Jenny James all had good rounds and did good dressage tests and double clears finishing 2nd to High Fenn and Jeny James 5th as an individual. We also has one Junior individual Imogen Hughes and Natalie Flewitt was a individual for the seniors who both were unplaced but finished but finished with a good XC round.

Next were the 100cm riders we had a junior team Milly Butters, Dulcie Wade, Jasmine Slater and Francesca Aitchison they all did really well and came 1st so have qualified for the championships. Francesca was 3rd as an individual, Milly 4th and Jasmine 5th. Good luck to them all at Swalcliffe.

Finally it was the turn of the 100+ we only had two riders in this James Smith and Isabella Stagg. James did a solid dressage test and double clear with a couple of time faults XC but went on to win and finish on a score of 34.2. Isabella did a lovely dressage test but unfortunately decided to retire after the show jumping.

The club would like to say a big thank you to the members who helped set up on the Saturday and clear away on Sunday plus all the help on the day and all our other helped either stewarding, jump judging, commentating, timing keeping and doing the scoring, without you we could not run this event.
