Winter Novice SJ Qualifier

On a cold November day we all headed to Wix for a long days jumping. The juniors started first with Connor Slater jumping a lovely double clear. Jasmine Hawkins rolling a couple of poles and Amelia Slater despite her best efforts couldn't convince her pony to jump that filler! Sadly down to three already the team couldn't complete with a score.

The seniors were in the afternoon and we had two teams entered. The red team of Joe Mace, Emma Kelly (having a very successful FVRC debut), Molly Appleby and Tish Goodwin (who sadly had to withdraw due to a hornet attacking her in the lorry!) all jumped clear. The blue team of Julia Sheppard, Jenny James, Kirsty Dawes and Shirley Stagg all jumped well but sadly rolled poles in each round. The reds finished on a zero score and jumped off against High Fen. It was a fast and furious jump off but sadly High Fen took the win and FV ended in 2nd. The blues finished on 4f to finish 4th overall.

With 11 teams starting this was another great result for both teams. Well done everyone!!!

Winter Intermediate SJ Qualifier

We had 5 junior teams and 3 individuals entered. All riders jump 2 rounds with the first round at 90cm. Both Carleton and Beccles and Bungay had two teams entered and one team from Finn Valley.

After the first round Beccles and Bungay Blue and Red teams were both on zero scores. Carleton Red and Blue teams were both on 4f and Finn Valley on 12f. The individuals from Halesworth and Suffolk were both on zero.

The second round had the teams jumping with all the 1st team riders followed by the 2nd team riders of all the teams. After the second round it was Beccles & Bungay) Red who finished on a zero score to take the win. Second place went to Carleton Red, third to Carleton Blue, fourth went to Beccles Green and fifth to Finn Valley.

The senior team event followed with 9 teams entered but just the 6 teams started the competition after several withdrawals. After the first round we had one team on a zero score which was High Fen Blue team, closely followed on 4f were Finn Valley, Carleton and High Fen Red team.

The second round saw a few more poles coming down. After a tense few rounds it was Finn Valley who came out the winners (James Smith, Amy Curl, Tish Goodwin and Joe Mace). In second place was High Fen Blue, with Carleton third, High Fen Red fourth, Beccles fifth and Deben sixth. The jump off for individual placings was hard fought with fourth going to Sarah Chaplin who also won the highest Finn Valley and sixth to Pip Davies.

It was a great day with some fantastic jumping. Well done everyone. Thanks to all our helpers without whom we could not run the event. Good luck to the senior team at the championships at Bury Farm.
