Winter Novice SJ Qualifier

High Fen hosted the Novice Show jumping qualifier at Wix on Sunday 24th November.  It was rather a grey day but not so cold. There was a warm up class to start with and several of our riders did this then after the Juniors we  had one rider Jess Mace riding Willow in the 70cm class,  Willow did a lovely first round a bit speedy and unfortunately rolled a pole, second round was a little slower but he again rolled a pole so finished on 8 faults.

After adjusting the height of the jumps it was time to start the 80cm class, we had two teams first to go was Sue Westmore riding The Footman and she did a lovely clear, next was Jackie Street riding Licaro’s Pride he took a dislike to one fence so she unfortunately had 4 faults and 8 time.  Third to go was Julia Hicks riding Ranchwood  Miss Skalette she unfortunately rolled a pole.  Finally it was the turn for Sarah Rose riding B 15kopt she also had 4 faults so after the first round the team finished on 8 faults.  Second round Sue Westmore had 8 faults, Jackie did a lovely clear round, Julia Hicks had 4 faults and Sarah Rose 4 faults, ending up with a total of 8 faults and they came 4th.

It was then time for the second team first to go was Bella Stagg on Quite a Compliment she did a lovely clear round, second was Shirley Stagg riding Possibilities she unfortunately rolled a pole, third to ride was Julia Sheppard on Dynamite Dixie owned by her friend Becky he unfortunately rolled a pole but it was a nice round.  Final rider was Libby Wilson-Smith on Rubber Band she did a nice round but just a little quick and a pole fell which left the team on 8 faults after the first round.  Second round Bella did a lovely clear and so did her sister Shirley, Julia had four faults and so did Libby, so the team finished on 8 faults and they came 3rd.    With Bella coming 2nd individually for a double clear.

In the team event High Fen came 1st, followed by B&B and then Finn Valley.   Well done to all our riders it was a good day, thanks also to Julia for organising the teams.
