Winter Champs 2018

On April the 14th the Senior Novice SJ team headed to Arena UK. Due to the recent weather conditions the showground resembled a bog! The indoor arena was needless to say fantastic to jump on once we negotiated the mud to get there!

The team of Shirley Stagg, Julia Sheppard, Molly Appleby and Sue Leggett had a great time representing East Anglia at the Nationals. Although Julia and Shirley have been to several championships with our experienced older horses (22yrs and 24ys old) for Molly and Sue it was their first experience. Sue even saying that 'age is no barrier' at the age of 60!

The team started off really well finishing on a zero score after the first round with 4 other clubs. The fences were then raised in the prestigious indoor arena at Arena UK and it was proving tough as the poles were falling. Between us we had a few down and the team finished on 12f.  No team finished the 2 rounds on zero so it was close to wait for the final scores. Two teams on 4f, three teams on 8f and then three teams on 12f. Final placings were decided on time in the second round and as we were the slowest we finished a creditable 8th out of 25 teams!

Another great experience representing Finn Valley and shows that no matter how old you or your horses are you can always give it go!

Finn Valley also had two members competing at the Intermediate champs at Bury Farm on the 29th April; Rosie Stevens and Milly Butters. Both had a great time and Milly finished 8th and 16th.

Rosie was jumping in the 110cm class and she jumped two great rounds just rolling a pole in the first round to finish on 4f and a creditable 10th.
